Valensole Lavender Fields: Small Group Excursion from Nice

Join us for a one-day small group excursion to Provence — where, in season, lavender paints the famous purple lines across the Valensole Plateau, and the day unfolds in a beautiful rhythm: Moustiers-Sainte-Marie and Lake Sainte-Croix near the Verdon Gorge. This is a format where you don’t just “tick off the sights” — you experience Provence properly, with photo stops, coffee breaks and timing that works with the light.

Along the way, we also make short stops for photos and coffee in beautiful places.

How the group excursion is organized

We try to keep the excursion both comfortable and efficient. That is why the departure format depends on the actual group composition and the geography of addresses.

    How pickup works

    • If the group is made up of couples, families or a few compact parties staying in convenient areas, we may pick guests up from their addresses (hotel / apartment) in Nice and nearby towns.
    • If addresses are too spread out and door-to-door pickup would waste too much time, we use one meeting point in an easy-to-reach location.
    • We confirm the departure format in advance: usually the day before, and sometimes 2 days earlier if needed, so you can plan your morning without stress.

This helps us leave on time and preserve more of the day for Valensole, Moustiers and Verdon — which is where the real experience happens.

    Timing, duration & transport

    • Departure: approximately 7:30–8:00 (depending on season and pickup format).
    • Return: usually in the evening, approximately 19:00–21:00.
    • Duration: 10–12 hours (depending on traffic and season).
    • Transport: comfortable minivan for a larger group, or a sedan if the group is small.
    • Included in the vehicle: water and soft drinks.

    Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the most common questions before joining our small group excursion to the lavender fields of Valensole.

Will the lavender definitely be blooming on my dates?
Bloom timing depends on weather and harvesting. Start with the week-by-week guide: when lavender blooms in Provence. Closer to your date, we’ll advise on the current field conditions.
Does the excursion start from our address or from a meeting point?
It depends on the actual group composition. If guest addresses are convenient, hotel pickup may be possible. If addresses are too spread out, we use one easy-to-reach meeting point to save time and start the day properly. Final departure details are always confirmed in advance.
How much time do we spend in the lavender fields?
Enough time to walk, enjoy the atmosphere and take photos properly. We usually make several lavender stops and plan the day so it doesn’t feel like a race from point to point.
Can we swim at Lake Sainte-Croix?
Yes, in warm weather and if the timing of the day allows. Swimming depends on the season, the temperature and how the excursion unfolds.
What should we wear for photos in the lavender fields?
Light, natural shades usually look best in photos: white, cream, beige, soft pastels and light blue. Very busy small prints and dark colors often make the pictures feel heavier.
Is the road difficult? Are there mountain bends?
There are no extreme mountain roads, only normal winding sections that are typical of Provence. We keep the route as comfortable as possible, with pauses when needed.
    Are lunch and tickets included?
Lunch in Moustiers-Sainte-Marie and personal purchases are not included. The main stops and excursion logistics are included.
How many people are usually in the group?
We keep the format comfortable: a small group, so the journey and stops stay pleasant. The exact number depends on the date and bookings.
