Small-group excursions in Provence from the French Riviera

Our group excursions in Provence are designed for travelers who want to discover the region in a more accessible and social format. Instead of arranging a private day, you can join a small group, share the route with like-minded travelers and enjoy Provence at a lower price point — while still visiting some of the region’s most iconic landscapes.

Lavender, villages and classic summer Provence

Provence is world-famous for its summer color, and our seasonal group routes make it easier to experience it. Choose the Valensole Plateau for classic lavender fields, or the Luberon Valley for a softer mix of hilltop villages, Sénanque Abbey and Provençal scenery. If you’re planning around bloom timing, our guide on when lavender blooms in Provence will help you choose the best period.

Verdon Gorge, Cassis and natural landscapes

Provence is not only about villages and lavender. The region also offers dramatic nature: the turquoise waters of the Verdon Gorge, the cliffs and inlets of the Calanques near Cassis, and mountain scenery in the southern Alps. These excursions are ideal for travelers looking for a more visual, scenic and active day.

Provençal villages near Nice

For guests who prefer a shorter route, our Half-Day Provence Excursion focuses on villages near Nice: Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Tourrettes-sur-Loup and Grasse. It’s a very good option for travelers staying on the French Riviera who want to see a more authentic Provençal side without a full 10–12 hour day.

Why choose a group excursion in Provence?

Group excursions are a great balance between comfort and value. They allow you to visit the highlights of Provence with organized transport, a clear itinerary and lower cost than a private tour. They also suit solo travelers, couples and guests who enjoy discovering the region in a small shared group.

Looking for something more flexible?

If you prefer a private format with hotel pick-up, a custom pace and more time in specific places, explore our private tours in Provence. But if you want a well-organized shared day trip, these small-group excursions are one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to discover Provence from the Riviera.

Frequently asked questions

Important things to know before booking your Provence group tour.

Where do group tours start from?
Group tours normally depart from Nice. Pickup from Antibes and Cannes may be possible only if it matches the route and group logistics. We do not provide group pickup from Monaco, Menton or Villefranche. If you need pickup from those locations, we recommend choosing a private tour.
How many people are usually in the group?
Groups are usually small — up to 8 people. This allows a more relaxed pace, better photo stops and a more comfortable day compared to large bus tours.
Is there a professional guide on the tour?
Group tours are accompanied by a driver-escort who knows the region, routes, viewpoints and daily logistics very well. This is not a licensed full-day professional guide. Hiring a licensed Provence guide for 10–12 hours would typically double the tour price, which would make group tours economically unrealistic. Our format focuses on scenic routes, villages and nature, which works perfectly with an experienced local driver-escort.
What language does the driver speak?
Drivers speak basic conversational English. They are not native speakers and do not provide academic historical commentary, but communication for the day, logistics and main information about the region is usually not a problem. If you require a professional licensed English guide, this is possible only in private tour format.
What should I bring for the tour?
Comfortable walking shoes, water, sunglasses and sun protection are recommended. During summer lavender season, some guests also bring allergy medication if they are sensitive to pollen. For Verdon tours in warm weather, swimwear can also be useful.
Do I need to book in advance?
Yes, advance booking is strongly recommended, especially for lavender season, Verdon Gorge and Luberon tours, as availability can become limited.
How is payment done?
Payment can be made in cash or by card. Card payment on the day of the tour includes a 10% processing fee. Conditions may differ if a deposit is paid in advance.
What is the difference between group and private tours?
Group tours follow a fixed itinerary and schedule, which allows a lower price. Private tours offer more flexibility:
  • custom pickup location
  • adjustable pace
  • route modifications
  • more personalized experience
Which tours are best during summer?
During summer the most popular tours are: Lavender fields (Valensole), Verdon Gorge, Luberon villages and Cassis Calanques. For short trips, Provence villages near Nice are also a good option.
